Ellery Creek – Hugh Gorge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The weather forecast was that there would be some heavy rain and possible storms, particularly on Tuesday. So we decided to do a double days worth of walking today. That meant about 30 km from Ellery Creek to Hugh Gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was up at 6 am, per usual. I had my breakfast and we started walking at 7:30 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ankle gaiters were a handy item of clothing and come in many varieties. Sue was sporting some she had made for herself from \u201cfound items\u201d at Ormiston Gorge, whilst Dave had some fashionable \u201cDirty Girl\u201d gaiters purchased for this trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather was mostly fine although just after lunch there was some light rain. This quickly cleared to blue sunny skies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country was quite open as we moved across from one range of hills to another range of hills over the course of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had lunch at Rocky Gully, which was looking a bit sad after recent bushfires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were many dingo scats on the track, distinctive by their shape and by the furry remains of their diet scattered through the scats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After lunch I walked by myself for the next 15 km into camp. I sang the full album of Abbey Road in my head to give myself a rhythm and to take my mind of the time. The scenery was very pleasant, if not spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I arrived at Hugh Gorge at 4:25 pm. The first thing I did was sit down and have a rest. My legs felt tired after 30 km with a full backpack, and my left leg was a little bit stiff, which meant that I couldn\u2019t really stretch out while I was walking. I then set up my tent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
